A new story

The day begins bright and warm. I am ready for a new challenge.  With a new badge and identification in hand, I have three warrants to serve as a constable.  Elected overwhelmingly this past fall, I am ready to do my duty and serve.

The problem is that I do not receive money until the tax warrants are paid up.  The three warrants I received are from non-payment of taxes for 3, 4 and 5 years.

Optimistic as always, I'm ready to begin a new adventure.

First stop a deli. The name on the warrant is John Rodriguez.  I pull out my badge and walk in. The crowded aisles are heavily stocked, groceries piled high.  I ask for Mr. Rodriquez and was told he is no longer there, so I ask for the new owner.  Edward Gonzales, the gentleman said as he extends his hand in greeting.  I smile and introduce myself, George Savicky, Constable.

Relief

So the 2nd opinion says no surgery. I may try to use proper shoes (omg)but the pain is bearable and I most certainly do not want to re-open the scar.

Whooo Hoooo!!!

2nd opinion tomorrow

OK, the surgery on the right foot was in January. The last x-ray of that foot was 9/26, the CT Scan was 9/30. I have an appointment with someone new tomorrow.  I think it will be easier to ask questions to someone who does not know me.

I need to know if another surgery is necessary. I need to know if I did nothing will the foot continue to swell even more.  I need to know why this happened. I need to know Why Me.... I'm such a whiner :)

I got the last x-ray and the CT Scan results, too bad I can't understand them.

new musings, foot surgery...

After 10 years I finally decided to get my foot operated on for a bunion.  I had the left foot done in 2000 and in January 2011, I was ready to have the right foot cut open.

I babied it, did not walk much, did not drive for a very long time and the swelling did not go down. I returned to the doctor and he was surprised by how fast the bone healed. I complained that it was still swollen and it still hurt. I go back two more times with the same complaints, and had two additional x-rays with the same results.

Summer came - FLIP FLOPS! - I was either barefoot or flip flops with a t-strap, of course actual flip flops crossed over the cut and scar. I soaked my foot in the pool and enjoyed my hot, steamy summer.

September I finally returned to the doctor and again complained that my foot was still swollen and it hurts.  Telling me it's arthritis, I went for a CT Scan.  There is arthritis but the foot never healed!  Now the saga begins. I'm calling for a second opinion, but I'm supposed to go under the knife this year so I will not have to face another deductible.  WOW! ... and I will keep the toenails red, and Carmen's adds a flower :)

What do dreams mean?

I am one who never remembers a dream. I can count the times I have but not even the when, but I know the last time was almost 20 years ago.

Last week I had a dream that my old boss asked me to break into a house. I actually do not know why I was breaking in, but I know that I did not use my own car, I parked in the driveway, got into the house and was greeted by a cat.  The cat followed me from room to room and was friendly.  I was getting ready to leave when a woman came home and I ran out the door, jumped in the car and left.

Of course, I woke up puzzled, not sure of the meaning and more unsure of why I was remembering the dream.

Last night I had almost the same dream.  This time I used the same car but parked on a hill near a tree, a few houses down. I do not know the house, but I know I went to the same house, and more of a risk, at the same time and was again greeted by the cat. This time the woman came home and I provided an explanation that I was there on business. I explined to her I was asked to come by to look for something (and now I have no idea what) and told her why.  I then ran and went to the car and was stopped by hospital security.

I was then rudely interrupted by my husband to let me know it was raining out and it was 4 am with the windows open.

We have been cat sitting for the week, which means going into someone's  home while they are not home.  I'm sure this plays into the dream, but where does the old boss come from, why the hospital reference and who was the woman?  She was the same in both dreams as was the cat (and it was not marble, the cat we are sitting for). hmmmmmmmmmmm. interesting, very interesting.

Summer musings

Another summer has gone by and I have written very little.  It has been a busy summer but more importantly hot and steamy.

it's not always the cat

Yesterday I was supposed to go into the City for an art show. It was muggy. It was pouring and windy. And I had a sinus headache that was knocking me out. I had invited my 10 year old niece to go with me and we were to have dinner in Times Square and cab it down to Chelsea for the opening.

I called her at 1 pm and asked her if she would be too disappointed if we did not go.

Jenna, the sweetheart that she is, said she was fine and we decided that if I felt better we would go to Applebees in Danbury. This way I could lay down when I got home and we would not get soaked, making the headache that much worse.

I picked up Jenna at 4:45, we had a quiet dinner and due to the early hour the place was almost empty. Jenna had dessert and our waitress brought the bill.  With the NYC trip planned, I changed purses early in the day and never put my wallet back where it belongs.  I had no money, no cards and I know Butch was supposed to go out that evening.

I called his cell and he thankfully answered but he could not here me. "I do not have my wallet," I whispered loudly. "I do not have my wallet with me!"  I stated louder and then heard CLICK. He hung up on me.

I quickly called home hoping he had not left yet and thankfully he answered again. I explained my situation and heard silence, no laughs, no comments, nothing. He asked if I can come to the car and I explained that I am sure they will not let me leave so 10 minutes later with wallet in hand, in walks my knight in shining honor, well really clothes to take my nephew fishing in but he was dressed and ready to leave.

I passed him as I was going home and we have not discussed the incident. I guess he is finally used to my many "situations."
